Ford Fiesta ST Concept Debuts at 2011

Ford Fiesta ST Concept debuts at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show
Signed with the initials of Sport Technologies delivers 180 hp and a 0 to 100 km / h in 7 seconds.

After installing a series of global models, within its One Ford plan, the Blue Oval House plans to do the same with a family of global sports variants. Thus, alongside the launch of the new Focus ST, Fiesta ST Frankfurt presents the Concept which will aim to achieve at least 40 markets, including destinations as diverse as USA, Europe, Mexico and Australia.

Based on the experience and the aesthetics of the World Rally Championship, where it competes with a Ford Fiesta RS WRC, the conceptual ST also offers a 1.6L EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo that delivers 180 hp this case (300 vs WRC) and 184 lb-ft of torque mated to a 6-speed transmission. The result is a 0 to 100 km / h in 7 seconds and a top speed of 220 km / h.

Aesthetically the new Fiesta ST is distinguished by its large trapezoidal grille that goes from the bottom to the upper lip, probably anticipating the new incarnation of Kinetic Design, global design language of Ford. The honeycomb grille and enormous diffuser that are topped with a generous rear spoiler, and wheels 17 "alloy and black background optical warn us that this is a version of intent sprinter.

As for the initials ST, Ford plans to make global SVT supplanting previous definitions as used in North America. This European team known as Team RS, and American, called Special Vehicle Team (SVT), worked together to create a global sporting DNA for Ford. The main features are: speed, fun, refinement and performance that can be enjoyed on winding roads without neglecting the comfort daily.

The Ford Fiesta has a long tradition of sport in Europe going back 35 years in the past including XR2, XR2i, RS Turbo and the previous ST.
