Dell will enter the consumer market for tablets in 2012

Sobar News,- LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Dell plans to launch its first consumer tablet at the end of this year, so entering a crowded market dominated by Apple, who won a setback to Hewlett-Packard.

Dell claims to have learned from the mistakes of competitors and better understand how consumers perceive the value of tablets.

"You will see us enter the market towards the end of the year," said Steve Felice told Reuters the group commercial director, at the Consumer Electronics Show, a consumer electronics show in Las Vegas.

"We took our time. Failure in general all those who, outside of Apple, has tried to give the shelf" shows that Dell has made a wise choice, he argues.

Manufacturers such as Research in Motion or HP - which has left its TouchPad - failed attempt to compete directly with Apple iPad.

"When we talk about the PC, we focus on the hardware itself. When we speak of a tablet or smartphone, we are interested in the overall environment in which they are placed," said Steve Felice, Dell has added that therefore it is to go slow to develop "ecosystem "his tablet.

Asked about the operating system to be adopted by Dell to its shelves, Steve Felice evasive.

"We love Windows 8 (Microsoft), but we also continue to work with Android (Google)," he answered, saying to pay attention to "consumer feedback."

"Our products will be present for the general public, but we will ensure they are fully compatible with the corporate market, which we believe Apple has not addressed," said Steve Felice.

"There are many uses in the commercial sector that require more security and compatibility, and I think we will be able to respond better."
